Vitae Foundation goes into some of the most hostile  markets in the country [relating to abortion].  The state of Washington is on the extreme edge of the abortion spectrum.  American’s United for Life ranked it as the most pro-abortion state in the country.  That is one reason why Vitae has spent close to $2 million on media and research there since it entered the market in 2003.

One of the most powerful pro-life speakers today, Abby Johnson, will be speaking at the Vitae Foundation’s Annual Seattle Pro-Life Benefit Dinner this Friday, November 30 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel, 515 Madison Street.

Dinner and program begin at 7 p.m.  The benefit raises funds to promote a culture of life and to help educate women facing unplanned pregnancies about resources available which can assist them in making an informed decision.  Click here to guarantee a seat, call 800-393-5791 today to make your reservations. The former abortion clinic director will share how she went from “Employee of the Year” with Planned Parenthood to being a complainant against the multi-billion dollar abortion industry and their tactics against women.  In March of this year Johnson filed a lawsuit against her former employer.  “It is (allegedly) the largest Medicaid fraud case in history, where 87,000 fraudulently-billed claims were sent to the federal government,” Johnson stated.  “My (former) affiliate alone could be fined $600 million.”

Washington Abortion history

  • They were the first state to legalize abortion by a vote of the people, by referendum in 1970…three years before Roe.
  •  A decade later an initiative that would have prohibited public funding of abortions was rejected by voters in 1984.
  • In 1998, an initiative that would have prohibited so-called late-term abortions was rejected by 57 percent of voters.
  • The state maintains a “Freedom of Choice Act.” The Act mandates the right to abortion even if Roe v. Wade is eventually overturned, specifically providing: “The sovereign people hereby declare that every individual possesses a fundamental right of privacy with respect to personal reproductive decisions.
  • Washington does not have an informed consent law for abortion, parental involvement law for minors seeking abortion, or abortion clinic regulations.
  • Washington protects physical access to abortion clinics and curtails the First Amendment rights of sidewalk counselors and demonstrators.
  • Seattle & King County operates 14 school-based health centers in Seattle — 10 at high schools, four at middle schools — and two sites in the Kent and Tukwila school districts.
  • At King County’s school-based health centers, once a pregnancy is confirmed, center staffers discuss options with the girl.
  • Abortions are not provided at the health centers; rather, a girl who wants one is referred elsewhere, and clinic staff may help make the appointment.  Parental consent is not required to obtain an abortion.

Finally, according to Seattle Magazine, there are now more dogs in Seattle than children, by a lot: about 153,000 dogs to 107,178 kids.  This according to the latest census data.  Even though the culture there is more favorable to animals than children, abortion numbers are trending in the right direction.  Vitae has made an impact but we have a long way to go in Seattle to make abortion…unthinkable. Let us know if you wish to help Vitae Foundation reach more pregnant women in need.  Be a part of the Vitae prayer and action arm of our organization – Vitae’s Life Corps.  We need volunteers in all parts of the world – doing many different things.  There will be more on this in the coming week.  We are going to be looking for bloggers to write guest posts, local liaisons to help with special events, and other engaging activity around the globe.  If interested email us at info@vitaefoundation.org.
